TOPIC #3
TEAM BUILDING
(Creating Connections / Unity / Winning Is Everything)
TITLE
“Are You Willing To Win?” (Powerfully Provoking, Proven in Sports & the Fortune 500)
A General Session Keynote Speech or Breakout Session Perfect for Sales Rallies, Leadership Or Management Meetings where Dan challenges the status quo stating it’s not all about team – teams lose! It’s about winning teams that get and stay on top!
Dan played American football for 13 years & learned it’s not all about team – teams lose. Companies are going bankrupt as you read this and they have a team. It’s about winning. There is no “I” in team, but there are two “I’s” in winning. The first “I” represents Independent Individual Preparation - a commitment to Clarity, Character, Confidence, Consistency, Change, Cause & Chemistry. The second “I” in winning represents Interdependent Collaboration - a commitment to Contribution, Cohesion, Conclusion. In this context it IS about team, but because it’s what you do when the coach is not around that makes you a champion, the teams that win have the greatest number of “I Players” on them who live all of these Ten Commitments in their personal and professional lives!
A major part of this 2 hour to full day Team Building seminar is a workbook study guide discussion where we embrace the "COG's" Ladder Model of Seven Building Blocks and Five Stages of Transformation through which a group must pass in order to become an effective, productive team. These include:
- Clear objectives
- Openness
- Trust and Support
- Cooperation Through Conflict
- Competence
- Individual Development
- Leadership
When you put a hard to catch horse in the same field with an easy to catch horse, you usually end up with two hard to catch horses. When you put a sick child in the same room with a healthy child, you usually end up with two sick children. To be great, you need to hang out with the disciplined, healthy, great ones!
When a world champion boxer loses to a weaker opponent, it’s because he started thinking of himself as THE competition. He started playing not-to-lose instead of playing to win. What the champ failed to realize is that once the fight starts, he no longer holds the title. He has put it up for grabs and must fight to win it back. Market share is a daily battle for everyone on a business team – customer service is not a department, it’s a philosophical way of life – sales is everybody’s business! We must never forget what it took to get on top and what is required to stay there.
Your people will leave Dan’s presentation with a greater sense of unity, fueled by a deeper conviction to trust and be trusted. They will realize that it’s not enough to have the “will” to win. Everybody wants to win. They must have the will to “prepare” to win and never get complacent. Preparation is about obedience to the Ten Commitments, transforming from “best” to “right” and becoming an MVP “I” player on your team.
