TOPIC #9
EDUCATOR IN-SERVICE
(Positive Discipline/ Classroom Management)
TITLE
"Teaching Is The Profession That Makes All Other Professions Possible!"
(Entertaining, High Content, Emotional Tribute To Educators)
As Dan recovered from his paralyzing football injury he was asked to share his inspirational story of resilience at a few high schools. The popularity of Dan’s message encouraged him to create a powerful school assembly program, which soon brought him to the U.S. White House to meet First Lady Nancy Reagan. Dan was immediately invited to be a key individual in Mrs. Reagan’s “Just Say No” positive choices program, and from 1981- 1989 Dan spoke to hundreds of thousands of teenagers in thousands of schools in all 50 states and 10 provinces of Canada.
Consequently, Dan also developed a huge following of parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators who brought Dan in for their local, state, and national meetings to help them reenergize and laugh and feel the power found in positive discipline, classroom management, expectation based- learning, and the critical importance of parental involvement.
Dan reminds:
"The only place from which a person can grow is where he or she is. We must go where they are physically, mentally, and emotionally. Only there can we gently invite them to learn and improve."
"You can’t increase a person’s performance by making him feel worse. Humiliation immobilizes behavior."
“No one can exceed their potential. We just misjudge it.”
Dan has spoken to hundreds of District wide K-12 Teacher In-Service meetings, and keynoted the conferences of The National School Board Assoc, American Association of School Administrators, National Secondary School Principals Assoc, National Elementary School Principals Assoc, American School Counselors Assoc, National Education Assoc, American Federation of Teachers, and the National PTSA convention. Dan has also keynoted the National NCAA Athletic Directors Assoc and the National High School Athletic Directors Assoc conferences and many of their State Association meetings.
Dan loves educators and thrives on the chance to honor them, inspire them, teach them, and thank them for their unselfish service! Bring Dan in for an educator meeting and have him speak to the parents and community in the evening!!
